MIUI 9 has been known for the customization that it provides and it has a large user base which has been growing due to increase in number of sales of Xiaomi phones. The China based company provide their custom android skin regular updates and security patches. Xiaomi has recently launched their cheapest smartphone in India which is expected to boost their sale which is currently in idling situation. And their latest version of MIUI was launched in Nov 2017 as MIUI 9 which comes with some major changes but some of these are still in beta phase and are only available in Developer ROM. The stable version of MIUI 9 has some minor changes like new animations and optimizations. Many applications have gone through an overhaul such as the theme store and the app store.
We have been testing MIUI 9 since last few months and it looks fine but has some major issues in displaying notifications and the battery performance has been decreased. Earlier with MIUI 8 people were getting at least 10% extra battery life. And if you use any other launcher, then the animation while closing any app looks weird. But we have come across a solution for these issues.
Disable MIUI optimization in the Developer Options.
- Open Settings and go to About Phone.
- Here find “MIUI Version” and continuously tap on it to enable developer options.
- You can find developer options in Settings > Additional Settings (under system and device).
- Now in developer options search for MIUI Optimizations and then disable it.
- It will ask you to reboot the device. Reboot it.
You will see all the MIUI 9 animations are gone and you can now use any other launcher. There are many other options that you will get in the settings menu like data usage. And if you want to again turn on the new animations then you have to again turn on the MIUI optimization.
