How to install .NET framework 3.5 from a Windows installation DVD

Some software need .Net framework to work properly on Windows. It can be easily installed online through installer. However, it can also be installed from the Windows installation DVD just with a single line command in the command prompt. Many software require .NET framework 3.5 to function properly it was released earlier in 2007 and the latest version of the .NET framework is 4.5.1 which can be installed through web installer.

Windows USB DVD tool is among that software which require .NET framework before its installation there are also many other games which requires .NET framework as an essential requirement. Windows USB DVD tool is an official utility tool from Microsoft which can create a bootable USB drive from Windows installation image (.iso) you can also create bootable DVD disc from the Windows installation image

Step 1 If you have a Windows installation DVD then insert it into the DVD drive or in case if you have Windows installation image then you can right click and mount that image on your PC.

Step 2 Open Command Prompt with Admin rights [Windows 10: Right Click on Start menu button to open Command Prompt(Admin), Windows 8.1/8: Right Click on the left most corner and select Command Prompt (Admin)]

Step 3 Copy the below command Line

Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:<D>:sourcessxs /LimitAccess

Step 4 Now replace <D> with your drive letter in which you have inserted Windows installation DVD or the drive in which you have mounted the installation image file. i.e. if your DVD drive is E: then replace <D> in command line with E

 Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:E:sourcessxs /LimitAccess

Step 5 Now the installation will be completed in 4-5 minutes

After the successful installation you can easily remove the Windows installation Disc or Unmount the image.

You can also check whether it is installed or not by going to Turn Windows features on or off check box in the .NET framework will be partial filled or will be ticked.
