Long Term Review: Redmi Note 4 with LineageOS

The legacy of Cyanogenmod has been carried forward by LineageOS. If you have installed it on your Redmi Note 4 then you can tell how good it is. We have been using it from last 2 months and our experience has been very good with it. LineageOS is very much stable and it can even compete with the performance of MIUI 9. We have been using LineageOS when it was unofficial but now the official version is also available for download and the only difference between those two is the OTA update. However, with the launch of Android Oreo, lineage team has already begun the work on LineageOS 15.

  • Performance– Redmi Note comes with Snapdragon 625 and after installing LineageOS on it, there is huge difference in the performance (Compared to MIUI). Many users have reported that they are getting an Antutu score of around 66000 (May vary with device).
  • Camera– Camera seems pretty good however HDR is not available on Google camera but if you are using the stock camera app, then you can use that feature. Using the Google Camera app, you can also record videos upto 4K resolution.
  • Features– As you know that LineageOS has features such as status bar customizations, battery profile, privacy guard can help you in your day to day life. LineageOS is based on stock android so you should not expect too much customization but there are enough of them to keep you excited about your phone.
  • Battery Life– We already know that the battery life is too good on Redmi Note 4 due to the use 14nm processor. So, in the MIUI we have got around 9 to 10 hours of screen on time but after installing LineageOS the screen on time has not been less than 11 hours. And if you are an average user then its battery could last you for about two days. One more feature that we just mentioned above was battery profiling with the help of it you can set any of the five profiles available on LineageOS.

Redmi Note 4 is already a good device and after the installation of LineageOS it seems to more optimized and organized. MIUI comes with a lot of unwanted apps that you can’t remove, but the support of themes makes it more customizable. MIUI also offers cloud storage to backup all your messages, pictures, calls logs which is very helpful when you lose your phone or when your phone is lost.
